Dusty Woodruff: Born and raised in Juneau, Alaska, Dusty began developing his skills on the guitar at the age of fourteen. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, and soon after, moved to Athens, Georgia with his lovely wife, Jordan. In the spring of 2006, Dusty received his Master of Music degree in guitar performance from the University of Georgia, where he studied with John Sutherland. He is currently continuing his education by pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at UGA. Besides Mr. Sutherland, Dusty has also studied extensively with Dan Mitchell and David Brandon. He has also been selected to participate in master classes by such names as Jeffrey McFadden, Paul Galbraith, Daniel Wolff, and Christopher Parkening. In 2004, Dusty received first place in the graduate division of the Georgia Music Teachers Association Spring Competition. He was also chosen, as a member of the Athens Guitar Trio, to perform in the final recital at the 2005 Christopher Parkening Masterclass in Bozeman, Montana. He has contributed several arrangements to the trio that have been received with great acclaim, as well as having arranged several works for solo guitar. Dusty maintains an active performance schedule, ensemble and solo, as well as teaching schedule. He is on the faculty of the Georgia Academy of Music in Atlanta as a guitar instructor and heads the guitar department at Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia. |
